Marc Beauchamp, M.D.FRCSC, is an orthopedic surgeon who owns and runs a private orthopedic clinic in Montreal called ExceptionMD.
He completed his residency at the Université de Montreal in 1993 and his fellowship in 1995 at the University of Toronto. He was assistant professor of surgery at the Université de Montreal from 1996 to 2005, and his main interest is in upper extremity reconstruction and arthroscopy. In 2005 he went into private practice. He is affiliated with the Sacré-Coeur hospital research center (Université de Montréal), where he is currently involved in research projects related to arthroscopic shoulder surgery (ultrasound imaging, regional anesthesia, post surgical pain control, and development of new surgical instruments). He is the author of several scientific communications, medical articles, and book chapters.
Since 2014, he is president of the board of Living With Dignity, a Québec association counting more than 14 000 members that promotes access to quality end of life care for all Canadian citizens and works to prevent the inclusion of euthanasia and assisted suicide in the Canadian medical practice.
He has been a consultant for the Journal of Medicine and the Person and is vice-president of the EnRoute Foundation, a charity fund in Canada.
Dr. Beauchamp is married to Caroline (a medical oncologist at Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur, Université de Montreal) since 1993, and they are parents of seven children.
