“What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? Yet you made him [this man] little less than the angels…” Psalm 8

LOBBY, FLOOR 1

In the middle ages, the sculptors of Chartres Cathedral showed God making Adam. While shaping Adam's face, the hands of God the Father seem to direct him towards his birth, towards the light. Adam's body is caught in the moment of coming out of the womb of God. Father Giussani comments on this sculpture: “You make man feel his dignity, and others must look at him according to this dignity of his…You have given him power over the works of your hands [power over reality, over the cosmos: this is intuition and the summary of all that can be said of the story: you have given power over the work of your hands, over creation], you have placed everything under his feet.”

Boys and girls over ten were invited to join us at the Infinity Lab on the second floor to recreate the magnificent stone sculpture on Chartres Cathedral—the final masterpiece was displayed on Sunday in the first floor's lobby.
