The Kids’ Village is a simple and beautiful way to engage families and children in the experience of the New York Encounter. Rather than a “drop off” place, The Kids' Village is a place where together we introduce our children to something beautiful and greater than them that can capture their hearts. It is a place where they can feel at home, a place where they belong.
During the day, parents organize activities such as arts and crafts, singing, and storytelling. For children 6 and older, guided tours will be given for some exhibits, especially geared for them!
The Kids' Village is open to all kids, with the older ones helping the little ones. One of the moms who came to The Kids' Village last year shared the following:
“I was very moved by looking at my 3 year old daughter running around New York Encounter and going to The Kids’ Village with such a freedom and sense of belonging. I was thinking that according to the ‘normal criteria,’ New York Encounter should be a dreadful place for little kids: a big space they are not familiar with, many people, parents always busy and running around. So why was she so ‘at home?’ Christ is really a presence, He can be felt so much so that a place can go from being scary and unknown, to becoming familiar and welcoming. I am really begging to have this simplicity of the heart that my kid had those days, to embrace Him, to recognize Him present in my daily life to the point of being at peace in every moment and circumstance.”
Note: Children at the Kids’ Village must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver at ALL times.
