J.F. Martel is a Canadian writer, lecturer, and podcaster. He is the author of Reclaiming Art in the Age of Artifice, a book on the power of art published by North Atlantic Press and forthcoming as an audiobook from Basic Books. As a filmmaker, he has directed French and English documentary series and feature films focusing on art and culture. Martel co-hosts the Weird Studies podcast with musicologist Phil Ford.
