Giovanni Morricone
Giovanni Morricone was born in Rome in 1966. His interest in photography began in childhood where he created his own lab at home.
In 1992, he obtained a degree in Political Science at the University of La Sapienza in Rome and shortly thereafter began making short films, working as an assistant to director Giuseppe Tornatore. He also took classes at NYU-‐Tisch School of the Arts, before enrolling in Columbia University's film school where he received his MFA in directing. His thesis short film What happened to the Communists? was one of the finalists that year at the Columbia University Film Festival.
He is the director of the soap opera Un posto al sole and in 2004, he won several awards for his feature film Al cuore si comanda.
He directed a few operettas and served as a master teacher at the Conservatory of Saint Cecile, the most important music school in Italy, and at the European Institute of Design and the New York Film Academy.
He is the co-founder of a film production company, Camino Productions NYC, LLC.
In 2015-2016 Giovanni co-directed and co-produced the award-winning documentary The Awakened Heart.
