Fr. Patrick Gilger, S.J.
Fr. Patrick Gilger, S.J. is a Jesuit priest. He is an assistant professor of sociology at Loyola University Chicago and a consulting editor at America Media. Fr. Gilger’s scholarship uses micro-sociological approaches to study the influence of public religion on secular democracies. In addition to his doctorate, for which he was awarded the Alfred Schutz Memorial Award in Philosophy and Sociology by the New School for Social Research graduate faculty, he holds graduate degrees in philosophy and theology. A frequent public speaker and co-host of Think Like A Jesuit, Fr. Gilger is also an award-winning author whose writing has been featured in Vox, La Civiltà Cattolica, Public Seminar, Church Life Journal, and America.
